Betty has been in the Insurance Field since 1984, starting out as a retail insurance agent. She began her career in the MGA/Wholesale Insurance field in 1989 where she worked as an underwriter and then moved up to Vice President of Underwriting. In 1998 Betty and her husband Patrick started S&H Underwriters.
She is active in the local insurance professional association and has served as President in the past. She has served on various committees within the association including Safety, Meetings & Events and Education. Most recently in 2016 Betty was awarded Insurance Professional of the Year by the Champlain Valley Association of Insurance Professionals.
Betty resides in East Montpelier Vermont with her husband Patrick and golden retriever Peyton. She enjoys running successfully completing several half marathon’s and her one and only full marathon in 2013. She has three grown children, one grandson Jackson and one granddaughter Emma.

Patrick resides in East Montpelier Vermont with his wife, Betty and has three adult age children. In his spare time, you can find Patrick on the golf course or spending time with his grandchildren.

Tammy McCullough joined the S&H Underwriters team in 2013 after having worked as a producer at the agency level and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. She has various insurance related designations including CPIW, CLP, AINS, ASLI, DAE and AIS. She is currently working on the AU and the Cannabis Insurance Coverage Specialist designations.
Around our office Tammy is the Cannabis Insurance GURU and quite often answers to the name Mary Jane. She has conducted several cannabis related courses at local industry meetings and at regional conferences. She is more then happy to chat all things Cannabis so give her a BUZZ.
Recently married, she resides in Central VT with her husband, Fred. She has 3 adult aged children and a precious granddaughter with another on the way! Vermont is the best place to play outside! When she is not at work you will find her running, biking, hiking or skiing.

Linda is a member of several civic clubs – BPOE Lodge 1535, where she was a past Elk of the Year, Auxiliary of the VFW Post 790, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Canadian Club.

Haylee was hired with S&H Underwriters in August 2002. She has worked in policy services, Commercial Lines and has been in the Personal Lines department since 2010. Haylee has her Certified Insurance Industry Professional Designation and is working toward getting her Associate in Personal Lines Designation and Associate in General Insurance Designation.
Haylee is a former member of the Vermont Association of Insurance Professionals and the International Association of Insurance Professionals since 2003. During her membership she has served on various VTAIP board positions – including being the President. She has also served on Regional Committees – including being the 2014 Region 1 Conference Committee Co-Chair.
Haylee lives in Graniteville with her 2 boys.

Matt joined S&H Underwriters, Inc. in 2003 as an assistant in the accounting department. He is now an accounting manager and also provides assistance with claims. Matt is a graduate of Lyndon State College with a B.A. in Social Sciences, holds a degree in business, and earned a certificate in accounting from Champlain College. Matt has also earned the AIC and AINS designations from the AICPCU.
Matt has served on his local schoolboard and enjoys volunteer work for his church, Cub Scouts, and community.
Matt is a life-long resident of East Montpelier. He is an avid runner and enjoys spending time at his family camp on Lake Champlain with his wife Julie, their son Joseph and their two golden retrievers.

Gabrielle began her insurance career in 2014 after graduating from Castleton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She was also a member of the Spartan’s field hockey team for two years. She started at the agency level as a personal lines account manager working for two different insurance agencies in Vermont from 2014-2018. Gabrielle started working for S&H Underwriters in August 2018. Gabrielle is working as an underwriter in our Personal Lines Dept. Currently, Gabrielle has an AINS designation and is working toward her API.
Gabrielle lives in Saint Albans, VT with her Husband, Ben, their son, Colton and their golden retriever, Bauer. In her spare time, she loves to run, hike, bake, and spend time with her friends and family.

Matt began his insurance career in February 2012 after several years designing for an engineering company. Problem solving, creativity, and attention to detail carried overwhile transitioning into the insurance world.
He has spent time in various segments of theinsurance industry. MGA/Wholesale Underwriting, Retail/Broker Production and Account Management, and Standard Market Underwriting/Agency Management. He enjoys the complexity and challenges of the Excess & Surplus world, as well as the ever changing, evolving marketplace.
Matt resides in Middletown, CT with his significant other Rian, their son Austin and their dog, Charlotte. Outside ofwork he enjoys playing hockey, exploring the great outdoors, and traveling.

Liz has been in the insurance industry since 2005. She takes time to build long-lasting relationships with her agents. She has handled placement for commercial and personal accounts of all sizes. The past 8 years have been spent working in the Excess and Surplus Market.
Liz has spent her career working with retail agents all over the Northeast. She is a licensed Property & Casualty Broker. Liz has earned her Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) and is actively pursuing her CPCU.
Liz resides with her husband Jon outside Syracuse, NY. They enjoy spending time with their 5 adult children and family members. When not working Liz loves hosting neighborhood cookouts, boating, fishing, and exploring new places.

After many years working as an EMT in Boston, MA, Kristen entered the world of Commercial Insurance in 2014. She began her journey as an Account Executive working on the Carrier side and eventually moved to a role as an Assistant Underwriter in the Wholesale space.
Kristen joined the XPT:S&H Team in 2023 as a Commercial Lines Underwriter!
In her free time, Kristen is an avid true crime podcast fan and loves to travel. She lives in Squantum, MA with her husband Chris, sons Drew and Chase, and many four-legged family members!

Shelby’s insurance career started in 2014 where she worked as a customer service representative. She came to S&H Underwriters in 2019.
Shelby has worked both in Personal Lines & Commercial Lines and with her attention to detail, carrier knowledge and communication skills, she has worked up to becoming a Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant. Working with such agreat team of Underwriters challenges her to learn and evolve in the complex and always changing excess & surplus lines world.
Shelby resides in Barre, VT with her husband, daughter and two sons. Outside of the office – she spends most of her free time baking (She has a Bachelor’s degree in Pastry Arts!) and she loves teaching her kids as much as possible. She also loves spending time with her family enjoying the family camp, fishing, swimming,and enjoying the outdoors.

Holly started her insurance career in 2000, typing insurance policies for a Wholesaler. What began as a temporary position has become a long-term career! In her 20+ years, Holly has worked in many aspects of commercial insurance, including Surplus Lines, Wholesale and on the carrier side. Due to the faster pace and more unique accounts, Holly is excited to return to the Wholesale space as an Underwriting Assistant with the XPT: S&H Team!
In her free time, Holly loves being outdoors in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, walking, hiking, on the lake, or snow tubing! She has also volunteered for many years with Toys For Tots and the Marine Corps League. Holly lives in Attleboro, MA, with her husband Dan.

MaryBeth Mangopoulos joined S&H Underwriters in 2023 and has over 16 years of experience in theindustry. She has spent time on the MGA and Brokerage side of the E&S world, with a focus on Construction-related accounts.
A native of Michigan, MaryBeth recently relocated to SWFL after living in Scottsdale, AZ for the past 12years. She enjoys hot yoga, tennis, going to the beach with her pup, Leo, and cheering on the Spartans.

XPT:S&H Underwriters has in-house binding authority on property Limits up to $6,000,000. Higher limits may be available on a submit basis. Excess Property is available for those unique or higher valued risks that need special underwriting consideration.
Basic, Broad or Special Perils are available. Replacement Cost coverage with current updates to utilities (plumbing, heating, wiring, roof) is available. We also write in Protection Class 9 &10 and Coastal Properties in the Northeast with wind coverage. Property Enhancements (water back up, money & securities, food spoilage etc) are available for most risks.

XPT:S&H Underwriters can entertain most ISO classifications shown in the Commercial Lines Manual. With Binding authority with many carriers, we can provide you with fast turnaround on your submissions. XPT:S&H also has access to many brokerage markets for Casualty insurance that are willing to entertain many of the tougher liability classes.
Products Liability coverage is available on a monoline basis, and premises GL can often be added. All types of manufacturers, distributors, importers, and sellers of a wide range of products can be entertained.
Owners Contractors Protective Liability (OCP) can be written within our binding authority on jobs/construction projects with costs under $1,000,000.
Special Event Liability for those short-term events like fundraisers, family reunions, sporting events, concerts etc. In-house binding authority for up to $1,000,000/$2,000.

Our markets can offer limits up to $10,000,000 and higher if needed. Underlying requirements of $1mil/$2mil on liability, $1,000,000 on Auto Liability and $500,000 for Employers Liability are required for our markets to consider. Carriers must have a minimum AM Bests Rating of B+ XV or A-VII or better.
Submissions need to include:
- Acord 125 Commercial Acord Applicant Information Section which should include the year the business started and a good description of the risk.
- Acord 131 Umbrella/Excess Application – be sure to include the limit that is needed, receipts, payroll, the limits for the underlying liability, the liability premiums for each line of business the umbrella is to go over.
- Acord 126 GL Section and any risk specific supplements that pertain to the risk (Contractors Supplement, Restaurant Supplement etc) and copies of the GL Dec pages showing the codes used and payroll/receipts used
- If we are writing over the Auto Schedule, we will need a list of Vehicles including the size, use and radius of each unit, Drivers List and MVR’s.
- Loss runs for 5 years are normally required, along with descriptions/circumstances of any large claims. If you don’t have loss runs, please provide an indication of the loss history and descriptions of any losses that are known.
XPT:S&H Underwriters has both Binding Authority and Brokerage appointments that can offer liquor liability coverage with limits up to $1,000,000 in certain States. Assault and Battery coverage is available on most classes of business with qualifying crime scores. Some of the Classes we can entertain can include:

Some carriers will write unsupported Liquor Liability while others will only entertain the Liquor Liability when writing the General Liability.

XPT:S&H Underwriters has access to many companies that specialize in Nonprofit Directors and Officers Coverage. Some may focus on a specific market sector while others may write a wide variety of nonprofit risks.
This coverage is designed for not-for-profit organizations typically with less than 500 employees and revenue under $50M. Directors and Officers Coverage can be quoted both with and without Employment Practices Liability. Individuals serving on these boards may be held personally responsible for their acts and the acts of the company.
Nonprofits can face claims from decisions made by the members of the board, wrongful termination, third-party discrimination, and data breach concerns.
Their personal assets may be at stake when something goes wrong. A Directors and Officers Liability Insurance Policy is designed to protect the personal assets of the directors and offers in the event they are the target of a lawsuit or claim from creditors, employees, regulators, shareholders and/or others.

Remember, fully completed applications with loss runs or loss information result in much faster turnaround time!XPT:S&H Underwriters has several appointments with carriers that specialize in For-Profit D&O Products that can offer a combination directors and officers liability and corporate securities liability in one policy form, for publicly traded companies. While each carrier may have some special coverage feature add-ons, the policy forms include coverage for past, present and future directors and officers of the corporation including foreign equivalent positions and spousal coverage. Full prior acts coverage is available to qualified companies. Limits are available up to $10,000,000.
The Management Liability Product is for privately held companies. Like the for-profit product, it covers the insured entity and insured persons including any director or officer foreign equivalent positions, members of the board of managers and management committee members. Spousal coverage is also included. Management Liability product allows companies the option to select a combination of directors, officers, and corporate liability coverage with employment practices liability coverage and/or fiduciary liability coverage under one policies form. Companies can also select a combined aggregate limit of liability across all coverage sections or a separate limit of liability coverage for each section. Companies select additional coverage enhancements such as Co-Defendant liability, Cost of defense in addition to the limit of liability, Claims brought by insured persons who have not served in that capacity for at least four years and Waiver of deductible if no liability.
When looking at Director and Officers coverage or management liability coverage, it is important to look and see if the policy offers the following:
- Defense Costs Outside the Limit of Liability
- Standard Terms No Coinsurance
- Broad Form Coverage
- Broad Definition of a Claim
- No Exclusion for emotional distress/mental anguish
- No Exclusion for Libel, Slander, Defamation
- No Exclusion for Bodily Injury
- Covers All Discrimination Acts
- Coverage included for breaches of the
- Family Medical Leave Act
- Coverage for all employees
- Coverage for non-sexual harassment
- No Intentional Acts exclusion
- No Class Action exclusion

Employment Practices Liability can be written as a stand-alone policy or in combination with a Directors & Officers Liability policy. With Increased financial uncertainty and stress, more and more companies find themselves at risk of unfounded allegations. Employee allegations of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation are now common occurrences in every type of company or organization. Homeowners
XPT Specialty dba S&H Underwriters (S&H Underwriters) has special carrier appointments for personal lines as well as our own personal lines program. Coverage is underwritten for a range of sizeable and complex homeowner exposures including but not limited to mid to high value properties, coastal homes, older homes, secondary/seasonal residences, residences with short and/or long-term rental exposures to include home-sharing properties, builders risk exposure and homes with prior losses. We offer HO3, HO4, HO5, HO6 & HO8 policy forms. Wind Coverage is available in most areas. Liability limits available up to $1,000,000. TIV in house authority up to $10 million. Higher limits may be available on a submit basis. Homeowners Application and supplementals if applicable.
S&H Underwriters also has admitted/non-admitted High Value Homeowner packages for your High-Net-Worth clients. Personal Auto, Collections, Personal Excess, Yacht coverage and more.
Condos
We have coverage for owner occupied and hard to place short and/or long-term rental exposure. We can also offer coverage for home-sharing exposures. Homeowners Application
Dwelling Fire
Our dwelling fire coverage is meant for the risks that don’t quite qualify for our homeowners’ products due to the ownership structure, condition, protection class or use. We can offer DP1 or DP3 coverage. Personal liability with higher limit is available. Dwelling Fire Application
Personal Umbrella:
We can offer Personal Umbrella/Excess Coverage as part of our high-net-worth individual program on an admitted basis. Limits available up to $10 million available with UM/UIM up to $5,000,000. Mono Line coverage is available on a non-admitted basis only with Limits up to $2,000,000 or $5,000,000 if Auto and Watercraft liability is excluded. Limits available may vary by state.
Vacant Dwelling
We can write vacant dwellings up to $6,000,000 building values. Higher values available on a submit basis. This can be packaged with Liability coverage up to $1,000,000. 3 Months, 6 Month and 12 Month Policies are available. Vacant Property Application
Builders Risks/Buildings Under Renovation
We have products available for homes that are brand new breaking ground, total gut/rehab projects, and homes undergoing cosmetic updating. With limits up to $6 million TIV and $1,000,000 for liability. Higher Values available on a submit basis. Personal Article Floater
Coverage is available for most classes of property from valuable works of art and fine jewelry, to extensive coin collections or other unique items.

Weddings are wonderful events where people come to celebrate with the couple on their special day. Insurance may be the last thing they think of but from the dress to the food we can help make sure if things go wrong there is coverage in place.
Special Events such as car shows, concerts, company picnics. Concerns about volunteers, temporary workers of committee members can be easily alleviated knowing there is a policy in place to keep them protected.
Homeowners’ associations, nonprofits or other organizations that may need annual host liquor liability coverage. This policy provides protection where most general liability policies don’t.
